Here’s an oldie but a goodie:

Let’s eat Grandma.

Or…

Let’s eat, Grandma.

Oh, that pesky comma. Can’t live with it, can’t live without it.

omg

One misplaced punctuation mark can flip the meaning of your whole line. Or just make it nonsensical. And one misplaced letter can kill your mic drop moment. We’ve all seen it. Who hasn’t Googled funny grammar mistakes and cringed in sympathy for the poor soul who okayed that messaging.

But we’ve also all been there. Multitasking, feedback rounds, too much text, too many assets, not enough time, second-guessing, incorrect autocorrect, fatigue, our brains doing that super cool but really inconvenient thing where it fills in the right word and you sail right by the boo boo—these are all reasons why and how some of the most seemingly simple mistakes can slide under the radar.

That’s what makes proofreading and copy editing an indispensable asset. Having a dedicated second set of eyes on your writing adds that layer of confidence to what you want to put out into the world.
